INTRODUCTION
The Department was established in the academic year 2001 - 2002, to meet the growing demand of the Industries for Instrumentation Engineers. Students are exposed to the latest trends in Instrumentation and control, with state of the art infrastructure and through qualifies and committed faculty members.
Instrumentation department play a vital role in any modern Industry. We aim at producing talented instrumentation and control specialists who cater to the needs of the modern industries.
Rapid advances in Transducers, Instrumentation, new processors and automation in the last decades created a need for a special kind of engineers with a range of expertise to make use of the advanced technology in the design of instruments, instrumentation process and control systems.
Instrumentation and control engineering is an inter disciplinary program and provide wide exposure in all the fields of engineering, viz. electrical, mechanical, computer, electronics and communication.
The curriculum begins with foundation courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, electronics and mechanics. Emphasis is laid on the foundation courses like sensors and transducers, micro-controllers, industrial instrumentation, control systems and PC interfacing. During the final year, the focus is on more advanced electives such as Fiber optics & laser instruments, Mechatronics, Instrumentation and control systems for Power Plant and Petrochemical Industries.
Objectives
To develop the Students with a Personality of Moralist.
To secure more than 90% of results in the Anna University Examinations.
To produce more than five university rank holders in the University Examinations.
To increase the employability of engineering graduates and to secure 80% of placements in each academic year.
To conduct more than 3 guest lecture program in different technical field for the benefit of both the students and staffs.
To encourage the Staffs and Students to participate more than one National and International conferences also deliver a lecture in seminars and also motivate them to publish text books.
To motivate students for paper presentations in Technical symposiums, students should provide access to technology, sufficient opportunities to develop self confidence and an entrepreneurial experience while they are on campus.
FACILITIES
The department has excellent laboratories with all necessary infrastructures. Some of the Laboratories and the major equipments:
Electronics and Instrumentation program includes practical’s in Circuits and Devices, Metrology, Electrical and electronics, Thermal Engineering and Fluid Mechanics, Electrical and Electronic measurements, Linear and Digital IC, Microprocessors, Transducers and Control Systems, Instrumentation and Process Control Laboratories.
The college offers the above discipline and strives to cater fully to the entire needs of instrumentation industry, be it fertilizer and chemicals, cement, paper, sugar, power generation or petrochemical in nature for their construction, maintenance, production, design and development and consultancy activities.
The students are encouraged and guided by our eminent faculty members to handle sophisticated equipments like PLC and closed loop control system for flow measurements, pressure and temperature measurements and processes by computer interfaced control systems. MATLAB and TUTSIM (system simulation lab) are taught to the students which enable the students in design; analysis and simulation of all controlling processes which are used in industries are present.
